Submitting Sitemap for BlogSpot Blogs on Google Webmaster

Sitemaps are a very important part of your website or blog; it lists all of the posts and pages from your site in a single page so crawlers and bots from Google Search Engine can index them. Submitting your sitemap to Google Webmaster tools or Search Console will get your site by coming up into search results and bots also known as Google spiders come and crawl your site every day to index the content you have posted. Blogger has its own XML sitemap which is automatically generated and you do not need any plugins or widgets to do that.

There are many benefits of submitting a sitemap because if you do not add it for indexing no visitor will be able to find your blog or site search results, and this goes for all search engines. Adding sitemap to search console is easy and straight forward with just a few steps to follow you will have your sitemap added to Google Webmaster Tools (GWT), hence your SEO and ranking will start getting better with an increased number of page views. 

How to add Google Bloggers Sitemap to Search Console 


There are multiple steps which you will need to follow so you can add the sitemap of a Google Blogger Blog correctly into Webmaster tools. So let's get started!

Step 1: First of all you need to sign in with your Google email account on the Google Webmaster Tools. After that you will see a small field where you have to enter your blogpot domain name address and after that select ''Add Property''.

Step 2: This is the part where you have to verify that you are the real owner of the blog. There are different ways in which you can prove that and they are by adding a HTML tag below <head> section of your template code or even by opening a unique address which Google provides for identifications. You can select which one of them you want you can also verify it by domain provider and Google Analytics but we are going to show the method which requires the Google verification tag to be added into the template.

After selecting HTML Tag from the list as shown above you will be given a unique code which will look something similar like this:

Step 3: After getting that unique code you have to go to Bloggers Homepage and from the left menu you have to select ''Template'' and after that there will be two options from there select ''Edit HTML'' and a small page will open with your blogs coding, on that page press CTRL+F and look for <head> after searching that code paste your verification code beneath it and click save! After this go back to your search console website where you added the website to and hit verify button.

Final Step: Go back to Google Webmaster tools and you will now see that your site will be added and verified to your name in a list on GWT. Select your blog from that list and navigate to the title where it says ''Sitemaps'' and open that as shown below.

After following the above steps you will need to add these sitemaps into Webmaster tools one at a time. Remember Indexing can take a while for a new blog or site.

1.  /atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
2.  /feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated 

These are the two most important sitemaps that you have to add in order for good site indexing and getting your posts into search results quicker. Follow the image below and copy the sitemaps mentioned above one by one until you add all of them into GWT. You can also test if the sitemaps work or not by selecting the Add/Test button on the top-right corner after submitting a sitemap. All Done! Now you have successfully submitted the sitemaps to be indexed by Google.

Update :
Guys Google has now updated there Sitemap for Blogger and now you will only need to submit (sitemap.xml) in Webmaster Tools. Please make sure you do this ASAP as it will help google crawl your site with the new sitemap that gives a better understanding than the traditional atom feed sitemaps we used to upload.
